The Chairman, Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Linus Nto Mbah (Linto), has described as commendable the decision of Governor Alex Otti to hold town hall meetings across the three senatorial zones of the state.
Eze Nto Mbah made his feelings known Thursday while speaking to the press at the Ohafia Local Government Area headquarters during the governor’s town hall meeting for the people of Abia North as part of activities marking the first year in office of Governor Alex Otti.
He said that the town hall meetings, which are a part of the inclusive governance agenda of the Alex Otti-led administration, are a well-thought-out initiative, adding that they would get the governor closer to the people at the grassroots as well as help him identify more of their various challenges.
Eze Nto Mbah commended the governor for the ongoing reconstruction of the long-abandoned Ndiokereke-Abam-Amuvi-Arochukwu road and Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Alayi-Ohafia road, saying the economic importance of the roads is immeasurable and unimaginable.
Eze Mbah further lauded the governor for hitting the ground running with road construction, retrofitting of hospitals, regular payment of salaries, defraying of arrears of pensions owed by previous administrations, and resuscitating the lives of pensioners by paying them their pensions every 28 days of the month.
He also appreciated the achievements of the governor in security, waste management, and education, among others, including the increment of the monthly stipend of the traditional rulers to the statutory 5 percent as well as the payment of 50,000 Naira each to the royal fathers to make up for the shortfall recently witnessed by the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee, FAAC.
The royal father used the opportunity to advise Otti to sustain his people-centric administration, which he said has not only impacted greatly on the people in the last year but has redefined governance in Abia State, and congratulated him on his one year of eventful governance while praying God to bless him.
Gov. Alex Otti, as part of events marking his one year in office, is engaging Abians in town hall meetings across the three senatorial zones, starting from Abia North, which was held at Ohafia LGA headquarters in Ebem Ohafia.
