The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Thursday described the defected former National Deputy Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Shuaib Oyedokun, as his political father who rallied support for him during the last gubernatorial election in the state.
The state governor who expressed optimism that Chief Oyedokun would still come back to his political party (PDP) he belongs to in no distance time, maintained that “he remains our father and we are expecting him back to our party.”
“I was surprised that Oyedokun, an experienced politician in Osun left the ruling party to APC despite that there is no fight or wrangling in the party.”
“Baba (Oyedokun) rallied support for me, attended stakeholders meetings and was opposed to dissenting voices in the party. He remains our father and we are expecting him back to our party.”
The governor made the remarks while hosting the Olunisa-In-Council led by Oba Joseph Fasikun who visited him in solidarity with the community’s support for Osun State at the Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo.
“I have progressive mind by constructing roads that were abandoned. I am completing the projects that were abandoned by past administrations. I am committed to policy of continuity regardless of any political affiliation. I am committed to the policy of good maintenance culture.” He added that, “I have spoken with Kwara State Governor because I will commence work on Osogbo/Ikirun/Inisa/Ila-Odo road to Kwara boundary. I have rehabilitated roads out of love for my people. I am so concerned about them.”
While highlighting some of his achievements in the area of road infrastructure, he stated that “the construction of Osogbo to Ikirun road which was initiated by the APC administration was in a bid to reduce road accidents and guarantee free flow of traffic along the axis and the ongoing repair of primary health care centres was in fulfilment of my health improvement agenda.”
“The Imole Free Medical and Surgical Outreach programme has benefited about 50,000 residents who were suffering from different diseases like cataracts, diabetes, lumps, appendicitis, hernia and so on.”h
“I have continued to invest in education by building and renovating blocks of classrooms, recruitment, training and promotion of teachers as well as distribution of instructional and writing materials to students across the State and this, administration has just concluded training for our teachers so that we can improve their capacity to impart knowledge on our children.
“The meaning of progressive is to prioritise the development of the people like what I am doing. I have been constructing roads, this will create connectivity between rural and urban areas, it will contribute to agricultural development because that is where we are returning to now with this economy. Osun will lead the massive agricultural revolution. The foremost nationalist and true progressive, Obafemi Awolowo during the era of old Western Region used agricultural proceeds for development, free education and many more. Progressive is when people feel the impact of government.”
Earlier in his address, the Olunisa of Inisa, Oba Joseph Oladunjoye Oyedele Fasikun II, said the council was in the Government House to appreciate the Governor for a wonderful job across the state.
Oba Oyedele, who assured Senator Adeleke that the entire people of the town are solidly behind him, described the information being spread around that Chief Shuaib Oyedokun led thousands of Inisa indigenes to the APC as mere rumours, saying that the Inisa traditional council is convinced that the PDP administration meant well for the state.
Oba Oyedele was accompanied by Chief Nathaniel Ìdòwú (Baale Ode Inisa), Chief Adetoyi Abimbola Ganiyu (Ọtun Ilu of Inisa), Chief Omotosho Ademola Tajudeen(Jagun of Inisaland), Chief Radius Ajibade (Baale Oke Omo, Inisa and Secretary of Inisa Council), Chief Adebimpe Jimoh( Akogun of Inisa) and a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party from Inisa, Aremo Adekunle Alao.
