The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, on Thursday announced the deployment of 1,750 personnel to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state during the Christmas and New Year periods.
The State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, in a statement made available to our correspondent by the spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, disclosed that there would be surveillance on all critical national assets and infrastructure to ensure a peaceful and crime-free celebration.
He assured members of the public of a comprehensive security arrangement in the state, directing all Divisional Officers to deploy personnel to worship centres, marketplaces, recreation centres, and other flashpoints in the state.
He also charged them to work in synergy with other sister agencies to provide adequate security during and after the celebrations, warning those planning to cause a breakdown of law and order to reconsider or face the consequences of their actions.
Sotiyo enjoined personnel deployed for the assignment to be civil but firm in the discharge of their duties. He also appealed to members of the public to report any suspicious movements in their environment to the nearest security agency.
