The former President of Ife Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OSUCCIMA), Dr Julius Gbolade Famoriyo, on Friday emerged as the new President of the Chamber in Osun State, with an assurance that his administration would build upon past achievements and continue organising trade fairs designed to empower members.
Speaking at his investiture ceremony held at Ojaja Resort Centre, Ile-Ife, in the state, Dr Famoriyo added that his leadership would further stimulate the state’s economy and reinforce business ties with the global economy.
He stressed, “We will create platforms for businesses to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and catalyse innovation, ensuring our community remains competitive in the global marketplace. Through strategic partnerships and initiatives, we will position Osun State as a hub for innovative business practices and technological advancements.
“We will provide essential resources, mentorship, and comprehensive support to entrepreneurs, helping transform promising ideas into thriving enterprises. Notably, we will establish the Osun Business and Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology Centre to spearhead entrepreneurship training programmes across the state.”
He also urged youths to actively participate in his administration, saying: “Their energy, creativity, and fresh perspectives are invaluable assets to the organisation. My administration is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for your involvement, skill development, and leadership growth. My administration is your administration.”
“As your President, I pledge to deliver leadership that is collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking. Together, we will drive economic growth, prosperity, and positive transformation throughout our state’s business community.”
The new President thereafter appreciated his predecessor, Dr Olu Olujide, and other past presidents for their exemplary leadership and sportsmanship, as well as other individuals for their contributions to the Chamber.
In his own speech, the immediate past President and Chairman of Council, Osun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Dr Olu Olujide, said: “As the mantle of leadership is being handed over to a new team, under the leadership of my dear Baba, a successful businessman, and a man of justice and fairness, Dr Famoriyo, the ground is already prepared for you and your team to accelerate the growth of OSUCCIMA and investment in Osun State.”
Reeling out some of his leadership achievements before handing over to the new President, Dr Olujide said that, in a bid to ensure an effective system in the administration of OSUCCIMA, its constitution was reviewed to address contemporary management issues, accommodate current trends, and fill existing gaps affecting effective administration. The constitution centred the institutional power of the association on the strengths and active participation of members.
He stressed that the public image of OSUCCIMA has been strengthened as the association has established, and continues to establish, long-enduring partnerships and collaborations with various corporate organisations and governments.
“The institutional relationships with governments at all levels, including Osun State Government, the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (Osun State), the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment, Abuja, the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Abuja, and some relevant agencies of Federal and State Governments, have been strengthened,” he concluded.
