Osun State House of Assembly on Wednesday suspended the caretaker chairman of Ede South Local Government Area, Mr Lukman Afolabi, after a sharp disagreement that reportedly ensued between him and the Speaker of the state House Of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Egbedun at a meeting that involved him and other members of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Osun State chapter.
Investigations revealed that during the hot argument that later led to the suspension of Afolabi, the local government chairman was said to have insulted a member of the House of Assembly, a development which moved the Speaker, Egbedun.
What actually led to the development remains cloudy as at the time of filing in this report, it was however learnt that the speaker left the meeting for his office where other members of ALGON reportedly pacified him before started with another round of meeting
However, members of the state House of Assembly who were displeased with the event, subsequently met and directed that Afolabi should be suspended.
While reacting to the matter, in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu, the assembly men announced the suspension and ordered Afolabi to hand over to his deputy with immediate effect.
According to the statement, “The Osun State House of Assembly has suspended the Caretaker Chairman of Ede South Main Council, Mr Lukman Afolabi, for misconduct.
“The suspended chairman is expected to hand over to his vice immediately.”
