The Bwari kidnapping rescue operation of 2nd of January, 2024 has left an officer of the Nigerian Police force, Bwari division injured and one other dead.
Ademuyiwa Adejobi, Police Force Public Relations Officer revealed the update on the wellbeing of the heroic police officers via his official X account, Tuesday, 30th of January, 2024.
His statement reads: “One of the hazards of our job. ASP Audu Mohammed, attached to Bwari Division, one of the policemen who raised to the scene of Bwari kidnapping on 2nd January 2024, was fired on by the armed bandits, and seriously injured. He is recuperating.
“We lost one sgt Ezekiel Emmanuel and the brother of the father of the victims, who accompanied the policemen to the incident. May their souls rest in peace. We need your support and prayers to continually fight successful wars against the evildoers and criminally minded individuals in Nigeria.
Recall that on 21st of January, 2024, Police operatives in collaboration with the Nigerian Army rescued Nabeeha’s sisters and other victims who were kidnapped at Zuma 1 Area of Bwari Area Council of the nation’s capital city on January 2, 2024, and have since been reunited them with their families.
The Bwari kidnapping incident raised nationwide concern and some Nigerians crowdfunded for the victims’ release.
Tribune Online also reported that following the killing of the eldest of the six Al-kadriyar sisters, the former Minister for Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, through his X-handle (formerly Twitter) disclosed that one of his friends has volunteered to pay N50m out of the N60m ransom.
