A group within the All Progressives Congress, APC, known as the Ondo Vanguard for Good Governance, has expressed concerns over the non-conduct of delegates’ congress before the party’s governorship primaries scheduled for April 20.
According to the group, the purpose of the congress is to identify party members eligible to participate in the direct mode of the primary election on Saturday.
The chairman of the group, Evangelist Tade Ojo, also maintained that the validation exercise for members of the party was not conducted thoroughly.
Ojo emphasised that the absence of the delegate congress and the incomplete validation exercise had set the stage for potential manipulation of the shadow primary.
He frowned at the alleged ploy to influence the primary election, labelling it undemocratic.
Ojo further alleged that there are deliberate efforts to create counterfeit membership cards for those who are not bona fide members of the party, to allow them to participate in the primaries.
Reacting to the allegations, the Director of Information, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers, LACO-FS, Kayode Fasua, maintained that the confirmation of membership in the party will not be done manually.
“The pre-requisite for voting is the party membership card, which will be confirmed digitally. Thank God the attack is no longer on Aiyedatiwa by these lie manufacturers. Let them challenge the party leadership over their grievances, and I’m sure they will get satisfactory answers. The APC remains united, as political aspiration is in the party spirit,” he said.
