The inauguration of multimillion-naira solar-powered streetlights donated to Adeola Odutola College, Ijebu-Ode, by the 1979–1984 set of the old students association of the school will take place on Friday, 19 July, 2024.
The event is part of activities lined up by the set to commemorate 40 years of leaving the school.
In a statement, the set said the 40th anniversary, which had been kicked off with a church thanksgiving service on Sunday, 16 June 2024 to mark the 75th Founder’s Day, will also be marked with a special Juma’at service on Friday.
The statement signed by the president of the Adeola Odutola College Old Students Association 1979-1984 set, Abiodun Balogun, said the programme would start with members of the set participating in the morning assembly with the students from 8 am, followed by a courtesy call on the principal and management of the school.
Inauguration of the solar streetlights donated to the school by the set, the document said, would follow at 11 am. It said the set members would then join the Muslim community of the school to observe the special Juma’at service.
Other activities lined up for the anniversary include a get-together and a gala where the old students will reunite and reminisce on their five-year stay in the school.
In the statement, the set expressed gratefulness for God’s benevolence, saying it had produced professors and other scholars, educationists, top civil servants and businessmen and women at home and in the Diaspora.
The set regrouped in 2014 to mark the 30th anniversary with the renovation of some classrooms in the school.
