Okpoama kingdom in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has announced His Highness Paul Briggs Omubo-Suobagha as the acting Amanyanbo/ Regent for the kingdom.
The throne became vacant following the abdication by His Royal Majesty, King Dr. Emmanuel Ebitimi Banigo, Okpo XXI.
Following the development, the kingdom at a general assembly (Ibekobiriya) held on August 3rd approved the appointment of His Highness Paul Briggs Omubo-Suobagha as the acting Amanyanbo/ Regent.
A statement from the Kingdom noted that the decision was in accordance with the Constitution of Okpoama Kingdom.
The statement noted that the decision was made in full accordance with the kingdom’s constitution (2008, as amended) in a general assembly meeting validly convened in compliance with the Okpoama Kingdom Constitution.
“The Ibekobiriya was attended by representatives of all organs of administration and recognised groups within the kingdom, including the Okpoama Kingdom Council of Chiefs (OKCC), the Okpoama Kingdom Representative Council (OKRC), and the Okpoama Kingdom Development Union Worldwide (OKDU Worldwide).
“Okpoama Kingdom remains committed to upholding peace, unity, and progress. We call upon all indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora, to continue supporting the Acting Amanyanabo/Regent in his efforts to lead our beloved kingdom into a prosperous future,” the statement noted.
