The Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing has constituted burial committee for the burial of the late President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu even as they commended Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states for conducting local government elections in the region.
Acting National President of the group, Chuma Okpalezukwu while addressing world press conference in Awka, on Monday, said the group constituted the burial committee to ensure a befitting burial for the late Ohnaneze Ndigbo President.
“We want to use this opportunity to announce to Nigerians the constitution of OHANAEZE NDIGBO YOUTHS WING BURIAL COMMITTEE for our departed leader, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
“The Committee is comprised of all Commissioners for Youth across all Igbo speaking States who are automatic members of the committee. We also reiterate our readiness to working in harmony with both the National Planning Committee by South East Governors’ Forum, SEGOF and LOC as already constituted, for the Burial of our departed Legend.
“The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide – Youth Wing, is determined to accord our Father, Icon and Mentor a most befitting funeral.
Okpalezukwu further commended the Governors of Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States for successful conduct of local government elections and called on the remaining states within South East to conduct their own without further delay.
“We also congratulate all the newly elected Chairmen and councillors in Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu States. We urge them to deploy the huge resources available to them to bring development to the grassroots and urge other States of Abia, Anambra, Rivers to ensure Peaceful and successful council elections.
“We shall entertain no excuses for any laxity in delivering the dividends of democracy to our people at the grassroots.
Ohnaneze Youths further commded governor Soludo for what they described as monumental development of Anambra State under him and called on all the leaders of Ohnaneze Ndigbo Youth wing at the 21 local government areas to mobilise support for the reelection of Prof Chukwuma Soludo.
“We are aware of the troubling security situation in the State before this administration came into office, which saw hoodlums overrunning about eight Council areas in the State. Our investigations show the presence of a robust and carefully designed security architecture which has seen, to the liberation of virtually all the communities and LGAs in Anambra.
“We are especially encouraged by the involvement of Anambra youths in the local security operations in the State. We advise that Technology and more of Non Kinetic is done in this area, especially, as it concerns the speedy dispensation of justice, so that many of our youths who are being held in various detention centres without trial can be expeditiously tried, and those who are innocent, released to make something good out of their lives, Okpalezukwu added.
