Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye on Thursday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to intensify women’s empowerment drive, the protection of child rights, among other interventions aimed at making life better for its citizenry in 2025.
Adeleye stated this at the annual lecture, prayer and award ceremony of the ministry held at the Abeokuta Sports Club to kick off the official activities for the year.
She said, “Together, we will continue to break barriers, champion social development and uplift the lives of women and children across the state. As we step into 2025, let us renew our commitment to the mission of this ministry. Our goals remain clear: to empower women, protect children and drive inclusive social development.
“This year, we will intensify our efforts, push boundaries and create opportunities that transform lives across our dear state. Together, we can achieve even greater milestones and make 2025 a year of exceptional impact.”
Adeleye appreciated the support of Governor Dapo Abiodun and that of the development partners, particularly the United Nations Population Fund and the Ogun State Transformation Projects, saying the collaborative efforts have helped the ministry to record its modest achievements.
Earlier in her lecture, the state’s former Head of Service, Selimot Otun, in her paper titled: “Role and Impact of Social Workers in Society,” pointed out that the workforce in the ministry was pivotal to the maintenance of social cohesion which positively affects social development.
Otun, a one-time Permanent Secretary in the ministry, challenged the workers to embrace excellence, work towards changing the narrative through effectiveness, improved service delivery and uprightness in their duties.
Also, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr Jola Oyeneye in another lecture, urged government officials to ensure the simplification of bureaucratic processes to reduce administrative bottlenecks.
He encouraged them to further key into the focus of the present administration, through effective collaboration and partnership.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of awards of excellence to deserving staff of the ministry and other development partners.
