Following the increasing incidence of kidnapping across the country and recently, Abuja, the Oduduwa development initiative has called on the Federal Government (FG) to conduct a total overhaul of the country’s security apparatus.
This was even as it urged President Bola Tinubu not to hesitate to sack the Chief of Defence Staff and the two Ministers of Defence.
The National President of the Initiative, Akinyele Olasumbo, made the call at a press conference on its assessment of some agencies of government and the need for them to be strengthened.
“As patriotic citizens of this great nation, we are seriously worried about the sudden increase of kidnapping recently witnessed in the country, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory.
“The whole scenario is very pathetic and that is why we want to task President Bola Tinubu to look inward and overhaul our security apparatus, “ he said.
He noted that the recent incidents showed that the service chiefs lacked the requisite knowledge to curb the activities of insurgency, kidnapping and banditry in the country.
“We panic everyday while trying to make ends meet, nobody is safe anymore, there’s absolute depression and Nigerians no longer sleep at all.
“We want to say that this is not witch hunting but truth must be told and the security of our lives and properties is the ultimate reason while we voted Mr. President.”
