The Odu’a Investment Company Limited (OICL) has congratulated the Nigerian Tribune on its memorable 75th anniversary, hailing the newspaper as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s journalism landscape.
In a joint statement by the Group Chairman, Otunba Bimbola Ashiru, and the Group Managing Director, Mr. Abdulrahman Yinusa, the company commended the Tribune’s enduring legacy and contributions to nation-building.
“OICL and The Nigerian Tribune are united in our shared heritage as products of the visionary leadership of the great Chief Obafemi Awolowo,” Otunba Ashiru stated.
He described the milestone as no small feat, adding, “This accomplishment is a testament to the enduring foresight of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and the resilience of Ambassador Dr. (Mrs.) Tokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, the Chairperson, Odu’a Foundation, the foundation arm of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, and the Tribune team.”
Celebrating Dr Tokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, he noted, “I specially celebrate Dr Tokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, whose leadership continues to uphold the vision of the great sage, praying that the Nigerian Tribune will continue to thrive and inspire generations with its unwavering dedication to nation-building.”
Echoing these sentiments, Mr Abdulrahman Yinusa extended warm congratulations to the newspaper, describing it as “the oldest-running private newspaper in Nigeria.”
He added, “OICL, as a partner in building a prosperous South-West and Nigeria at large, celebrate the Nigerian Tribune on this remarkable milestone.”
He further highlighted the paper’s significance, stating, “The Nigerian Tribune is more than a newspaper but a national institution with a legacy deeply interwoven with the history of Nigeria.
“From its early days, it championed and continues to champion the interests of the people, upholding justice, truth, and progress.”
The OICL leadership reiterated their pride in the Tribune’s legacy and wished the organisation continued success.
