The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State, today said the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration has failed to deliver meaningful and impactful initiatives that resonate with the everyday needs of the People of the State with his M.O.R.E Agenda mantra that is becoming less beneficial each passing day.
The APC strongly condemned the recent comments by the Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu regarding the handling of criticisms against the governor’s lukewarm response towards the state’s infrastructural development.
Delta State APC Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq, made the assertion in a statement sent to our correspondent in Warri.
“Not surprisingly, instead of formulating innovative policies and ideas to address the critical challenges confronting the state’s crumbling infrastructure and job creation, as any responsible government would do, Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration has become increasingly deceptive, hiding behind vague and grandiose promises of future projects rather than taking concrete action today.”
According to the APC, “Apart from the Effurun flyover project, which every government media hireling now gleefully points to, at any given opportunity, Governor Oborevwori’s administration has failed to deliver any other meaningful projects, and this continues to raise serious concerns among the people of Delta State, who are desperate for real developmental changes.
Governance is about addressing the day-to-day realities that affect the lives of Deltans; it is the duty of any responsive leader to govern in a way that positively impacts the lives of their people, not to hide behind unfulfilled promises.
“Without mincing words, Governor Oborevwori’s administration has yet to demonstrate any clear vision or actionable plan to tackle the myriad of issues affecting our state and ways to deliver results that will directly improve the quality of life for Deltans.”
In his statement, Aniagwu suggested that the Governor would respond to his critics by showcasing his “legacy projects.”
The APC said,”This is a laughable attempt to deflect attention from the growing concerns of Deltans about the state’s developmental trajectory.
“It is not only misleading but also a futile effort to distract the public from the urgent issues affecting the state.”
“It is no secret that Delta State is grappling with numerous challenges, ranging from inadequate infrastructure to lack of economic opportunities for our youth.”
The APC urged Charles Aniagwu to adopt a more constructive approach when reacting to criticisms, rather than dismissing valid concerns with empty assurances.
“The people of Delta State deserve a government that is actively working to improve their lives, given the huge financial resources at the disposal of this government, which so far has nothing to show for it.
“The APC remains committed to holding the government accountable, and we will continue to fight for progress and the well-being of all Deltans as we call on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to prioritize the needs of Deltans and deliver real infrastructural development, not hollow promises.”
