Delta Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has granted automatic employment to Okwa Favour Oghenemine, who achieved a 4.95 CGPA First Class in Mathematics from Delta State University, Abraka.

The governor made the announcement on Saturday, 26 April, while speaking at the 17th Convocation Ceremony of Delta State University, Abraka, in Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Oborevwori also directed the initiation of revocation proceedings for the abandoned Senate Building project at Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.

He stated that the project would be re-awarded to a more capable contractor to ensure its swift completion.

The governor reiterated that his administration had cleared all inherited promotion arrears and had consistently paid workers’ salaries promptly.

Governor Oborevwori congratulated the 6,401 graduating students and commended the university’s Governing Council and Management for their commitment to infrastructure development, including the construction of a new one-kilometre road linking the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences and Arts.

Meanwhile, Governor Oborevwori has inaugurated a one-kilometer road constructed by the four-month-old administration of Prof. Samuel Asagba, DELSU Vice-Chancellor.

The said road links the Faculty of Basic Sciences to the Faculty of Arts.

At the event, the governor enjoined the new graduates to see themselves as agents of change and problem solvers who should never give up on their dreams.

The governor also noted that “it was heartwarming to witness three prominent Deltans honored with honorary doctoral degrees in the persons of: Chief Broderick Uvieoghene Arigbodi, Prof. Tanure Ojaide, and High Chief Eta Enahoro.

While urging the graduates to continue to excel in their future endeavours, he congratulated Chief Arigbodi, Prof. Ojaide, and High Chief Enahoro for the awards.
