Leadership of Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, in Akwa Ibom State, have condoled with the family of Governor Umo Eno over the demise of the First Lady, Pastor Patience Eno.
This was contained in separate condolence messages signed by the chairmen and secretaries of both associations in Uyo on Friday.
The condolence message from the NUJ, signed by the Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, and the Secretary, Comrade Dominic Akpan, described the late governor’s wife as an extraordinary woman who touched countless lives through her pet project, Golden Initiative For All (GIFA).
The NUJ thanked God for the Christ-like life exhibited by the late first lady throughout her sojourn on earth, assuring the governor of its prayers in the moment of grief.
“Her presence will be deeply missed, but her impact on the lives of many will never be forgotten. We are grateful for her life and the positive influence she had in our State,” the statement said.
NAWOJ in its statement signed by Comrade Nsikak Okon and Comrade Mary Ekere, Chairperson and Assistant Secretary, respectively, pledged to promote the First Lady’s dreams, virtues and support for the family.
“Our First Lady was our mother and the news of her death is heartbreaking, painful and a great loss to the global community.
“Quite painful also, is her yet-to-be-greatly-utilised dreams for the State through her Golden Initiative for All, GIFA pet project which goal was to unite and build closely-knitted families in Akwa Ibom to promote peace and unity.
“We however, pray God to strengthen you and the family as you shoulder this tumultuous moment and grant you the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the State
going forward,” the statement noted.
