Investigations, analyses into the explosion at Bodija, Ibadan have continued with the interventions of teams from the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) and geologists.
The recent interventions are in the form of the experts carrying out measurements, examination of the main site of the explosion.
The Nuclear regulatory agency, upon taking measurements at the epicentre, found only normal background radiation doses.
The geologists from the University of Ibadan, on their part, continued to take seismic measurements from the epicentre.
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, made this known while giving an update on the Ibadan explosion on his verified social media handles.
Furthermore, Makinde stated that structural integrity tests on buildings around the site of the explosion, also called ‘Ground Zero’ are still ongoing.
As part of investigation into the incident, Makinde said the state was still collating details of those affected.
Upon completion of the collation, Makinde promised to announce comprehensive steps to support the victims to build their lives.
Furthermore, the governor said the state had set up a platform for donation to victims, assuring that the Bodija Residents Association will directly superintend over the donations.
“I would also like to reiterate our administration’s commitment to ensuring that the victims get justice.
“The Emergency Operations Centre is available to attend to anyone affected by the explosion.
“Any persons still not accounted for after the incident should be reported to the EOC on 07049948057 or 08147672009.
“We have also set up a platform for donations to victims. The money donated goes directly to the Landlords/Residents Association’s bank account while our administration will work with them to ensure it is distributed to the right beneficiaries.”
