A delegation from the National Universities Commission has visited the Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) University, Igbere, Abia State for on the spot assessment.
The inspection team was led by Chris Jubrim Maiyaki, with other members including Sam Adejoh, Acting Director of Establishment for Private Universities; Ashafa Ladan, Acting Director of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; Dr. Nte Bisong, Deputy Director of Academic Planning; Zakari Mohammed and Mrs. Olumodeji Oluwatoyin, Assistant Chief Geographical Information Officers.
The NUC delegation was received by a local team comprising Dike Nduka Ukoha and Olunkwa Felix alongside retired CSO Comm. Chris Okoronkwo at Igbere.
Addressing the people, Prof. Maiyaki assured the community that the commission’s visit was focused on fulfilling their commitment to realizing the establishment of the Orji Uzor Kalu University.
He emphasized that they were not at the University site for any punitive investigation, but to foster development.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Maiyaki noted that the high-level delegation to the university was a reflection of the high esteem the Commission held Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and his contributions to Abia State and Nigeria as a whole.
He urged the Igbere people and the broader community to continue supporting such a valuable son.
Responding, Eze Roland Ekeoma, speaking on behalf of the Igbere Council of Ndieze, expressed gratitude to the NUC team for their visit.
He assured that the community would extend full support and cooperation to facilitate the commission’s efforts in bringing the OUK University to fruition.
“This visit marks a hopeful step toward enhancing educational opportunities and development in Igbere and the surrounding communities.”
He said Igbere community, Abia North zone and Abia State as a whole will be eager to celebrate the take-off of the University.
