The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, says it deployed 2,050 of its personnel to provide security for residents and protect critical national assets and infrastructure during and after the Eid-El-Fitr Sallah celebration in Katsina State.
This, the Command said, is in addition to the undercover operatives deployed to gather intelligence and prevent any disruptions during the Sallah.
According to a statement issued by DSC Buhari Hamisu, NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer, Katsina, the security personnel will be stationed at prayer grounds, event centres, transportation hubs, markets, and government facilities within Katsina and Daura Emirates.
The State Commandant, Jamilu A. Indabawa, disclosed this at a meeting with senior personnel of the NSCDC.
He stressed the need for vigilance and diligence during the Sallah festival.
Indabawa, who was represented by the Command’s Head of Operations, DC Nuhu Dalha, directed department heads, area commanders, and other officers to collaborate with other security agencies to maintain order throughout the festivities.
While extending Eid greetings to Muslims in Katsina and around the world, Indabawa urged residents to report any suspicious activity to the nearest security office.
