NRC declares date to begin night time journeys

The Nigeria Railway Company, NRC, has concluded plans to kickstart night time operations earlier than the second quarter of 2024.

The Managing Director of NRC, Fidet Okhiria, disclosed this throughout a latest interview with NAN.

Nonetheless, he stated insecurity is the main hindrance to the graduation of night time operations.

He said that, “what’s limiting us is the night time operations, and that’s not the way in which trains ought to function. The practice is supposed to function always. Individuals could wish to journey within the night, however due to the safety scenario within the nation, we restrict ourselves to the daytime.

“We intend to convey again passenger and freight trains from Port-Harcourt to Aba, Lagos to Kano, and Kaduna due to the dry ports.

“We’re going to enhance the variety of practice journeys to 6 on Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe, and Abuja-Kaduna, which implies the journeys shall be thrice to and thrice from, making six journeys in a day.”

“The journeys will begin earlier than the second quarter of 2024 Proper now, they’re working 4 journeys—two up and two down throughout the board”, Okhiria stated.
