No fewer than 54 first set of Nursing graduates of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) Ado-Ekiti, have been inducted into the Nursing profession in the country
Speaking during the maiden induction and oath taking ceremony held in the university, the Vice Chancellor of EKSU, Professor Babatola Ayodele charged the inductees, comprising 7 males and 47 females to be good ambassadors of the university and always remember to contribute to the development of their alma mater.
The VC said that the graduands performed excellently in their professional examinations, while Miss Ogunbunmi Abisola emerged the Best Graduating Student out of the 54 students.
He seized the opportunity to call on the alumni body, public spirited individuals and organisations to come to the aid of the University College of Medicine by providing infrastructure to the Nursing department.

He commended the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria(NMCN) for increasing the admission quota for the university BSc programme, saying such would allow the University to admit more students into the department.
Delivering the induction lecture titled, ‘ The Economic Power of Nursing Care: Estimating The Value Of Nursing Care In National Development ‘ Professor Adekemi Olowokere from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, noted that Nurses contribute to national development through the roles they played.
Olowokere said that there is a need for governments and other relevant stakeholders to recognise economic values embedded in nursing care which enhances patient safety and quality healthcare.
The don charged the newly inducted Nurses to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of patients, noting that it would make the patients contribute meaningfully towards the economic growth of the nation.
Taking the oath of the Nursing profession which was administered by the Registrar of NMCN represented by Mrs. Modupe Ayoola, the newly inducted Nurses promised to uphold the tenets of the profession and obey the privacy of their patients.
Earlier, the Provost of the institution’s College of Medicine, Professor Oladimeji Ajayi appreciated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning in the university.
