Some Nigerians have taken to the microblogging platform X to share several videos and images of the eclipse of the sun happening in their vicinity.

Some of them who shared the image and video of the eclipse noted that they reside within Oyo state and Kano state.

The eclipse of the sun which occurs every one to three years, happens when the moon comes in between the sun and the earth, thereby blocking the sun and preventing any sun from reaching us.

It was also reported by The National Aeronautics and Space Administration that an eclipse of the sun was supposed to happen today, the 8th of April.

Although it was estimated to be completely in the Pacific region of Mexico, Canada, and over ten US states, some Nigerians also witnessed it to some extent.

A tweep who identifies as @M33natAjibola wrote above the picture; “Look up everybody!! Look up it’s happening”

Another user @FotoNugget wrote in his caption; “Eclipse of the Sun currently happening in Kano State, Nigeria.”

Below are some of the comments;

@collinmorsky:  The total eclipse isn’t visible in Nigeria, we can’t fully see it.

@Svyper:  Ahhhh, how did I miss this!??? And I saw the weather change o

@SpaceBarAfrica:  This is not an eclipse it’s not visible from Nigeria at all. Even if it were, you should not look into it directly or with lenses like that.
