The Anglican Bishop of Afikpo Diocese, Ebonyi State, Rev. Paul Udogu, has identified corruption, occultism, and idolatry as major challenges facing the nation and urged Nigerians to steer clear of them for the country to progress.
In his New Year message, Bishop Udogu lamented the increasing hardship in the country, alleging that leaders appear confused about how to salvage the situation. He expressed hope that the year could improve if people remain focused and determined.
“I just want to tell Nigerians to have hope and hope in God. Things are hard, people are hungry, our economy is going down, insecurity is everywhere, and there are lots of challenges.
“But I want Ebonyi people and Nigerians to be focused in this New Year, looking unto God. God will be able to grant a way out of the mess in which we are today.
“The way it is now, our naira is losing value. It seems as if some of our leaders are confused and don’t know what to do, but with God, all things are possible.
“Nigeria is our country. We must love this country, believe in it, and work hard for it to succeed. I think it is possible if everyone is determined and focused to make Nigeria what God wants it to be.
“We must run away from idolatry, occultism, and corruption. Let us be focused, and God will help us,” he stated.
