Nigerians under the auspices of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Americas (NIDOA) have united as a single body to ensure oneness among the diverse people.
The unification deal of the different Nigerian Diaspora Organization Americas chapters was sealed at an extraordinary Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Bloomington, Minnesota, USA, on 16 November, according to a statement emailed to The Sun and jointly signed by the chapter leaders: Bukoka Olaoye (Zee Nagberi), Chika Emmanuel (Brazil), Lillian Alli-Balogun (Canada), Doyin Owobamirin, and Collins Ikegwuonu (USA chapter).
“After months of dialogue and collaboration, representatives from NIDOA’s chapters across the Americas, including over 20 USA chapter presidents, continental chairs from Canada and Brazil, and past leaders, came together to resolve long-standing divisions within the organization,” the chapter leaders said in the statement.
They stated that the unification was a groundbreaking move, signalling the organization’s journey towards progress.
“For the first time in years, opposing factions came to the table to engage in constructive dialogue, and a unified path forward was charted,” the leaders said.
They commended the intervention of some individuals, including an international mediation expert, who facilitated discussions and reconciliation, leading to the historic unification of the diaspora body.
“The newly unified NIDOA will now have a stronger voice to advocate for Nigerians in the Diaspora and enhance its capacity to implement meaningful projects.”
