The Federal Government has allocated n100 million in its 2024 budget for the construction of a modern mini stadium in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
The project, with the code ERGP20242797, is set to be facilitated by Representative Jeremiah Umaru and implemented by the Centre for Management Development (CMD), a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
According to sources, this project, the first of its kind in Nasarawa North, is scheduled to commence in April or May, following the successful award of the contract.
Meanwhile, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has announced that a newly constructed mini stadium by the state government is set to be commissioned in Akwanga.
Speaking at the final match of the 2024 Nasarawa North Football Competition, sponsored by Silas Agara, Gusau stated that the commissioning of the mini stadium would mark a significant milestone in sports infrastructure development in Nasarawa North district.
The state Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Jafaru Ango, also revealed that the state government has already commenced work on the mini stadium over the last three months.
He said the construction, however, has faced a setback as the land on which the stadium is to be built has not yet been approved.
