This was disclosed in a statement signed by his son, Akinwumi Akinkunmi, on behalf of the family and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Monday.
The family has requested that the national flag be flown at half-mast in honour of the deceased during the burial.
The family expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for its concern, especially the condolence visit from a delegation led by the Minister of Information, Hon. Idris Mohammed.
However, the family also disclosed that they are still awaiting the promised financial support from the Federal Government.
“We thank the Federal Government for sending the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Hon. Idris Mohammed, to pay condolences to the family when the incident happened.
“We are still hopeful of hearing from the Federal Government regarding its promises concerning the burial plan.”
While awaiting the Federal Government’s fulfilment of its promises, the family appreciated the support provided by members of the 7th Oyo State House of Assembly, the Chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, and members of the council for standing by the family.
The family also expressed gratitude to Alhaja (Senator) Monsurat Sunmonnu and Honourable Bolomope for their support of Pa Akinkunmi during his lifetime and in the aftermath of his passing.
