Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has hailed Man of the Match Jesús Owono for his performances during Equatorial Guinea’s 1-1 draw with Nigeria at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
Akpeyi said he admired Owono for his several saves for Equatorial Guinea against Nigeria on Sunday.
According to him, the Deportivo Alavés star is good with his feet and hand.
Recall that goals from Ivan Salvador and Victor Osimhen ensured both the Nzalang Nacional and Jose Peseiro’s side got a point each.
Speaking on SuperSport, Akpeyi said:
“The coach of Equatorial Guinea was actually right when he said he believes in the goalkeeper and is a modern day goalkeeper, and he has proved that he’s good with his feet. He can use his hands as well.
“He has done most of his distribution in the game to his players in every corner in this game today which I actually admire him and he deserved the Man of the Match, puling out save after save in this game.”
