The Minister of Defence, Alh Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has called for deeper security and defence collaboration between the country and the European Union (EU) as part of effort to tackle the menace of terrorism and banditry bedeviling the country.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Personal Assistant to the Minister on Media and Publicity, Mati Ali on Monday.

The Statement said the Minister made the assertion when he was playing host to Mr Casmin Dirban, the Director Peace Partnership and Crisis Management Department of the European External Action Service in Brussel who paid him a courtesy visit in Ship House, Abuja.
During the meeting, the statement said the meeting also discussed on improvement of cooperation on security to fight terrorism and banditry.
To this end the Defence Minister called for a deliberate effort to look for more areas of collaboration with Nigeria on defence and security matters.
Earlier, Mr Casmin Dirban accompanied by the European union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, noted the existing bilateral cooperation between the two countries and expressed a desire for stronger relations.
