From John Ogiji
As Muslims all over the world celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, have urged the Muslim Ummah to rededicate themselves to the worship of Allah beyond the Ramadan period.
In their separate messages to the Muslim Ummah, they congratulated the entire Muslim family across the country for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, saying that it was a spiritual exercise worthwhile.
The Governor, in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, reminded the Muslim Ummah that the teachings of the Quran and Hadith centre on peace, love, discipline, and humility, explaining that the worship of Allah is not only observed during the Ramadan fast but is for life.
While thanking Allah for His guidance throughout the period of the Ramadan fast, the farmer Governor noted that the celebration revolves around love, almsgiving to the less privileged, and peaceful coexistence with people of other religions.
He called on them to use the period to also pray for enduring peace in Nigeria as a whole and Niger State in particular, as well as for all leaders to continue to serve humanity selflessly.
The farmer Governor further restated his commitment to building a New Niger where everyone will have a sense of belonging.
Also, the Speaker, Rt Hon. Mohammed Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, in a statement by Mairo Adamu Mani, Acting Head of Media and Public Relations Directorate, congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fasting.
According to the statement, “On behalf of the leadership and members of the 10th Assembly, I extend warm felicitations to all Muslims in Niger State and beyond.
“We are thrilled to see the Muslim community come together to observe the holy month of Ramadan, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to their faith.”
The Speaker maintained that “this sacred period of fasting, reflection, and spiritual growth has undoubtedly brought all Muslims closer to Allah and to one another.”
He therefore used the Eid-el-Fitr celebration to call on Nigerians to continue to pray for the present administration, adding that the current economic reforms will bring about the desired change in the country.
He specifically urged the people of the state to support the present administration in the state under the leadership of farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to enable it to realise the “New Niger” agenda.
Sarkindaji also assured that the 10th Assembly will continue to legislate laws that will have a direct and positive impact on the citizens of the state.
The Speaker emphasised the importance of Ramadan in fostering unity, empathy, and compassion among Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
He then encouraged all Nigerians to continue in the spirit of unity and togetherness, promoting peace and understanding throughout the country.
