In its bid to bridge critical knowledge gaps in taxation, technology, health, and investments, a non governmental organisation, JCI Ibadan Elite has introduced the Elite Literacy Series, a bi-monthly initiative aimed at empowering professionals and entrepreneurs.
Participants at the event recently held in Ibadan were enlightened on roles of key government agencies responsible for tax administration.
The interactive session, which recorded over 45 participants at its peak, enabled attendees to distinguish between taxable and non-taxable income and recognize common tax pitfalls.
The inaugural session, themed “Demystifying Taxation,” was facilitated by tax expert Opeyemi Oluwaseun, who provided in-depth insights into various forms of taxation, including Personal Income Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), and Company Income Tax.
According to her, series seeks to provide individuals with essential knowledge to navigate complex subjects that impact personal finance, business growth, and national development.

Adding that the “engaging and insightful discussions reinforced the importance of tax literacy in fostering financial stability and compliance. Beyond taxation, future editions of the Elite Literacy Series will explore other pressing topics, including leveraging technology for business growth, healthcare financing, and strategic investments.
“These sessions are designed to provide actionable knowledge that professionals and entrepreneurs can implement immediately to enhance their businesses and financial well-being.

Speaking, the newly appointed Commissioner of the Tax Appeal Tribunal (Lagos Zone), Barrister Frederick Abimbola Ladapo, elaborated on the benefits of the Tax Appeal Tribunal, explaining how individuals and businesses can seek redress in tax-related disputes.
While he provided attendees with a deeper understanding of tax compliance, dispute resolution, and legal frameworks governing taxation in Nigeria .
