The North-East Governors Forum has expressed heartfelt condolences to the Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi over the loss of his mother, Maryam Namadi, and his eldest son, Abdulwahab Namadi.
A statement by the forum’s Chairman and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, described the loss that occurred within 24 hours as devastating and acknowledged it as the will of Almighty Allah.
The statement was released by Zulum’s spokesman, Dauda Illiya, on Friday.
The statement read, “On behalf of the people of Borno State and the entire North-East region, I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Your Excellency and the people of Jigawa State over the tragic loss of your beloved mother and son.”
Zulum, who described the experience as painful, called for faith and resilience in the face of such trials.
“As Muslims, we believe that everything that happens, whether positive or otherwise, is destined by the Almighty,” he said.
Zulum prayed to Allah to grant the departed Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed for the Jigawa counterpart, his family, and the people of the state to have the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Maryam passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, coinciding with the governor’s official trip to China where he is engaging in efforts to foster economic ties and attract investments to the state.
According to reports, the governor’s son, Abdulwahab, was involved in a motor accident on Thursday while returning from Kafin Hausa to Dutse, the state capital, with his friends when the vehicle he was driving lost control, causing it to somersault.
It was gathered that some of his friends are currently receiving treatment at the Dutse General Hospital.
