The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has arrested 25 suspected drug peddlers and seized over 10kg of assorted illicit substances, including cannabis sativa and diazepam.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NDLEA’s State Commander, Abubakar Idris Ahmad, described the arrests as a bold move to combat drug trafficking and related crimes in the region.
The statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NDLEA Kano State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, further detailed the operation.

The recovered items include Exol, “suck and die” (a local term for dangerous substances), rubber solution, pregabalin, and locally produced weapons.
Commander Ahmad emphasized that the area, known for its high levels of drug trafficking and other social vices, such as phone snatching and violence, had long been a hotspot for criminal activity.
However, he assured that the NDLEA’s efforts to dismantle these criminal networks were making significant progress, contributing to a safer environment for Kano residents.
As part of this coordinated operation, the command also revisited the Danagundi construction site, where six additional suspects were apprehended.
Commander Ahmad reiterated the NDLEA’s commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes in the state.
“We will continue to disrupt drug trafficking networks and apprehend individuals involved in such criminal activities. This is a clear message that drug-related crimes will not be tolerated in Kano State,” he stated.
