The Director General of NDE, Silas Ali Agara who spoke during the flagging-off of the programme in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital said the training is under the Advanced National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (A-NOAS).
Represented by the NDE state coordinator, Sanusi Akeem, the DG explained that the unemployed beneficiaries would be exposed to training on catering, plumbing and electrical towards economic development.
He added that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to empowering youths in the country by creating a platform for them to advance themselves with marketable ventures and be financially independent.
He urged the beneficiaries to be diligent and focused in making themselves relevant and be employers of labour.
According to him, “It is important to note that the Federal Government of Nigeria has continued to make a concerted effort to ensure that a larger percentage of the population is gainfully engaged especially in self-employment in this era when the white-collar job is no longer accessible.
“This is to enhance the drive towards poverty reduction by permitting unemployed Ekiti youths to have access to increased opportunities evidenced by increased earnings through self-employment.
“The beneficiaries of today are advised to be appreciative, diligent and creative with this rare opportunity. You are expected to use this as a platform to launch yourselves into being entrepreneurs and employers of labour.”
