The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in its efforts to ensure independence in its operations, has introduced an indigenous registration portal, B-Bodogwu, aimed at creating a single data system for shippers, terminal agents, and traders.
This development comes as the NCS warned that terminal operators not linked to the B-Bodogwu system will be unable to operate within the country.
Speaking on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ sensitisation workshop organised by the Kano/Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Customs, the Controller, Dalhat Abubakar, stated that the B-Bodogwu system is a safer, faster, and indigenous-owned system designed by the NCS for transactions.
He added that the B-Bodogwu system represents a significant step towards achieving a single national entry window and promoting transparency in trade facilitation.
Emphasising the importance of onboarding licences on the system, Abubakar noted that failure to do so would prevent agents from accessing the system.
“The new system is designed to ensure reliability, transparency, and compliance in trade facilitation,” he said.
Abubakar further highlighted that the NCS has demonstrated competence and dedication in transitioning from service providers to the new system.
He listed the key features and benefits of the B-Bodogwu system, which include faster processing and reduced downtime, enhanced reliability and transparency, improved compliance with reduced instances of non-compliance, a single national entry window with unified data movement, and encouragement of trade facilitation and transparency.
He disclosed, “The NCS has commenced training for terminal operators, shippers, traders, and licensed agents to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.”
According to him, “Over 16,000 declarations have been made on the B-Bodogwu system since its introduction in January 2025.”
