The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Communications (IIC).
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that the IIC is an international organization that promotes the growth and development of telecommunications and media industries worldwide,
Dr. Maida has been a key player in improving Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.
Under his leadership at the NCC, the industry has seen better connectivity, innovation, and a more competitive and inclusive environment.
His new role on the IIC board will allow him to share his expertise on a global stage, contributing to the creation of policies that support telecom and media growth worldwide.
Dr. Maida has worked with several top organizations, including British Telecom, Cisco Systems, and EE Ltd. He was also part of the engineering team at UbiquiSys Ltd, a small-cell technology startup later acquired by Cisco Systems.
Before leading the NCC, Dr. Maida was the Executive Director of Technology and Operations at the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems PLC (NIBSS).
There, he modernized Nigeria’s digital payments system, making it a key part of the country’s financial network.
Maida holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, an MEng in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from Cambridge Judge Business School.
The NCC helmsman’s experience makes him a great addition to the IIC board, where he will continue to drive innovation and development in telecommunications and media globally.
