The Nasarawa State Authorities says it plans to conduct election for chairmen and councillors of the 13 native authorities councils within the state on Aug. 31.
The Chairman of the State Impartial Electoral Fee, NASIEC, Mr Ayuba Wandai, revealed this at a stakeholders’ assembly with officers of the state Inter-Get together Advisory Council, IPAC, on Tuesday in Lafia.
He stated that the present chairmen and councilors had been elected on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 and inaugurated on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 for a three-year tenure which might finish on Oct. 7.
“That is our second engagement the primary was in August 2023 in keeping with the legislation establishing the Fee.
“The legislation has given them the mandate to start preparation for election one 12 months earlier than the expiration of the tenure of the officers.
“The fee is a law-abiding establishment that has continued to advertise the adherence to the legal guidelines governing the conduct of LGs election within the state,” he added.
