Hajia Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, First Lady of Kebbi State and founder of the NASARA Women Development Foundation, has said her foundation has significantly improved the well-being of people across all sectors in Kebbi State within its three years of existence. She made this statement during the foundation’s 3rd anniversary celebration and the launch of NASARA Chronicles Magazine in Birnin Kebbi on 6 April 2025.
She explained that the foundation’s core mission is to enhance the quality of life for the vulnerable, less privileged, women, children, orphans, youth, and communities statewide. Thanking her husband, Governor Nasir Idris, for his unwavering support, she said, “Without his fatherly support, my foundation might not make such huge remarkable achievements within the shortest time.”
Governor Nasir Idris, addressing the gathering, praised the foundation’s role in complementing his administration’s efforts. “Nasara Foundation is an independent entity, your activities of providing succour, helping the less privileged and offering skill acquisition to people to engage in trade and commerce, assistance to educational matters and health care, tally with the policy thrust of my administration,” he said. “The government is ready to work in partnership with the foundation to serve humanity in all nooks and crannies of Kebbi, your performance has improved the wellbeing of communities.”
Hajia Balkisu Muhammad Nasir, CEO of the foundation, vowed to pursue its goals with renewed energy. She expressed gratitude to the Governor and First Lady for their moral and material backing. Meanwhile, the state coordinator, Alhaji Abdulrrashid Bala, revealed that the foundation has spent N800 million, benefiting 500,000 people since its inception three years ago.
“Hajiya Nasare founded the Foundation with the prime target of providing monetary, material and educational assistance to the vulnerable, the less privileged, orphans, women and children as well as youths, towards uplifting their wellbeing,” Bala said. “The Nasara Foundation is philanthropic in its concept, it has impacted positively to enhance the standard of living of the people on healthcare services, educational pursuit, skill acquisition, entrepreneurship and instilling moral values.”
“The Foundation has also continued to provide social services to the people within the three years of its existence,” he added. “Such monumental achievement was only possible by the massive support from the founder of the Foundation, the Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare supported by her husband, Comrade Nasir Idris.”
The event featured the unveiling of a publication detailing the foundation’s work. Personalities and organisations donated over N300 million, $1,000 in cash, and four new vehicles to bolster its operations.
