The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) Senate President, Henry Okunomo, has called on the Federal government, to takes immediate action to investigate the rationale behind the protesters that displayed the Rusian flag during the ongoing hunger nationwide protests in some part of the country.
This was just as the body added that “It is an unpardonable assault on the symbols of our sovereignty and a blatant disregard for the principles of patriotism.”
Okunomo made the assertion in a statement signed on Tuesday and made available to press in Kano.
He hinted that “It is imperative that the government remains vigilant and ensures that those responsible are brought to book.”
“The Senate President National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Comrade Henry Okunomo expresses profound dismay and utter disgust at the disturbing video circulating on social media, depicting Northern youths brazenly burning the Nigerian flag while brandishing the Russian flag”.
Okunomo said that “This egregious act of vandalism and treasonous display is an affront to the very fabric of our nationhood, and a reprehensible slight on the sacrifices of our heroes past.”
NANS Senate president therefore said that “We condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms possible and demand that the Federal Government takes immediate action to investigate the rationale behind this treasonous display.”that
“It is imperative that the government remains vigilant and ensures that those responsible are brought to book.
“We urge all Nigerians to remain calm and united in the face of this provocation, and to eschew any actions that may further exacerbate the situation.”
