The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), on Monday, officially handed over an electric vehicle to Enoch Tobilola Oluwagbemi, winner of the CNG hybrid design competition.
The Director General of NADDC, Joseph Osanipin, made the presentation at the NADDC Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony ceremony, Osanipin emphasised the importance of designing vehicles suitable for Nigerian roads.
The NADDC Director General noted that many existing vehicles did not meet the specific needs of the local environment.
Out of 18 submissions, Oluwagbemi’s designs stood out.
Osanipin explained that the goals of the initiative, included among others to inspire creativity and innovation among Nigerian youths and to encourage them to develop skills that aligned with the evolving automotive industry.
He reiterated the need for Nigerians to actively participate in shaping the future of the auto sector by focusing on design and production of automotive components.
The event was attended by the management staff of the council, marking a significant step towards fostering local talent in automotive design and development.
