Firefighters successfully retrieve two bodies from a large ditch in Musukwani Area of Jakara, Kano.

Earlier today, Arogidigba Global Journal reported how the residents of Musukwani in Kano city lamented the disappearance of the two boys who fell into the neighborhood’s large gutter. Efforts to rescue them had previously failed.

On Saturday morning, firefighters returned to the Musukwani neighborhood after their earlier attempt to recover the bodies of two youths who had fallen into a large ditch had failed. This time, however, they successfully retrieved the bodies.

An eyewitness, Alkasim Kabir Musukwani, who witnessed the recovery, told Arogidigba Global Journal that the bodies were unrecognizable due to the severe damage caused by the heat and decay inside the ditch.

“The younger boy who first fell in — his flesh had completely decomposed, leaving only bones. The other youth who fell in on Wednesday had also started to decay,” Alkasim said.

He added that they still did not know the exact cause behind the boys’ failure to get out of the ditch.”This gutter has become a threat to us. We no longer have peace of mind because we don’t know what dangers it still holds,” he said.

The big question now is what measures the government will take concerning this dangerous ditch before it claims more lives.
