A former House of Representatives candidate for Akure South/North Federal constituency, Dr Olumuyiwa Adu, has appealed to the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support the election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, saying it is God’s wish for him to support Aiyedatiwa.
Adu said Aiyedatiwa would consolidate on the gains of the late Rotimi Akeredolu-led administration in the interest of the state’s future.
He assured his supporters that Aiyedatiwa would not let them down if voted as the governor of the state.
Adu who stated this while addressing journalists in Akure, the state capital, said he decided to declare his support for Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy in order to continue to focus on the socio-economic development of the state.
The APC chieftain dismissed insinuation that his support for Aiyedatiwa was borne out of the desire to ensure that Aiyedatiwa spend only a term and power to return to the central senatorial district of the state
He, however, explained that his desire to support Aiyedatiwa is not for any benefit but as directed by God.
According to him, “In the course of my trying to find out why, I realised that these political positions held by many are subject of destiny. I related it to the word of God. I have come to realise that in every position in life, if God doesn’t destine one to be there, it would be difficult. People are destined to carry out different things in life.
“For that reason, I decided I would not join other gregarious politicians. I am not doing it for any benefit. I sat back and began to ask myself how will I get it right without God. I said I will not support any aspirant until I hear from God.
“God talk to me, there are a lot of things I have seen in politics that is tantamount to one wasting his time. At the time, people were asking me who am I supporting I said God had not spoken. If God had actually not spoken I wouldn’t have joined anybody.
“My coming to politics is divine and my choice of aspirant is divine. There are a lot of people that got into politics, ordinarily, if they had not gotten into politics, they wouldn’t have a problem.
“They will just live their lives but because they came into politics, they encountered problems. The mere fact that God has said go this way does not mean it’s a way of my achieving anything in politics. It is not like I am sure of what might happen tomorrow but I listen to the voice of God.
“I am trying to let the world understand how God works, They shouldn’t say because God said this is where I should go I am going to win.
“I am not supporting him because I know he will spend four years and power returns to Ondo Central. Aiyedatiwa will benefit the people if he administers the state with the fear of God.
“We have a problem in this country because we do not have the fear of God. I know God will lead me right. It is difficult to perform in an office without the knowledge or additional skills.”
