Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, on Monday, gave reason for celebration of the anniversary of his installation as the Yoruba generalissimo, saying that the celebration was more spiritual than ceremonial and one of the success stories of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, whose revered stool is the pride of Yoruba race.
Iba Adams made the remark on Monday during the celebration of the 7th anniversary of his installation as the 15th Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land, which took place at Omole, Ikeja, Lagos residence, where he installed six new chiefs as the Aare-In-Council.
The Yoruba generalissimo, while noting that the Aareonakakanfo stool was established in 1530 and had remained a prestigious position in Yoruba land, pointed out that the installation of six new chiefs marked another milestone in the history of the sacred stool occupied by him.
Adams said that all those who were installed as the Aare-In-Council were chosen based on their character and love for Yoruba land, noting that the celebration of his installation was the best way to sustain the stool of Aareonakakanfo.
“My Installation anniversary is more spiritual than ceremonial. People begin to wonder why we celebrate the anniversary annually.
“It is the tradition of the stool. It is the best way to sustain the stool.

“The Aare-In-Council chiefs are my traditional advisers and their job is to promote our tradition, culture and heritage. Their job is to help ensure peace and unity in Yoruba land. Their job is to work with me in driving the cause of Yoruba race.
“Therefore, the reason for installing the chiefs is to add value to the stool by doing their very best to transform Yoruba land,” Iba Adams stated.
Royal father of the day, who is also the Alaguda of Aguda Kingdom, Oba Akeem Agbaosi, applauded Iba Adams for changing the narratives of Yoruba race positively.
The traditional ruler also charged members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) and the Aare-In-Council to support Iba Adams in his efforts to advance the cause of Yoruba race.
Six new members of the Aare-In-Council were newly installed, and the traditional rites were performed accordingly, while the Asoju Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Yinka Oguntimehin read the Code of Conduct to the new chiefs.
The six newly installed Chiefs-In-Council include: Prince Adedipe Dauda Ewenla who is the Akinjagunla Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land; Chief Badaru Akeem Adebajo, the Osi Balogun Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land; Alhaji Monsuru Lawal Amubieya, the Bada Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land and Chief (Mrs) Adegbaike Ishola, the Iya Oodua General of OPC who is also the Yeye Gunwa Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land.
