The first aspirant for the Edo State to purchase his form in the Labour Party for the September 2024 gubernatorial election, Kenneth Imasuagbon, has said his singular action was a yellow card to the Governor, Godwin Obaseki, to stay in the government house and all he represents.
Also issued a yellow card by Imasuagbon in the September 2024 gubernatorial election are the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and its leader, Edo State Senator, Adams Oshiomhole.
Imasuagbon, who was at the National Secretariat of the Party to pick up his form, said the purchase of the form was facilitated by various groups in Edo State in recognition of his many contributions to different groups across the state.
The aspirant, popularly called the “riceman,” would be the first aspirant to pick his form for the Labour Party in the state. He said that when he emerges as the standard flag bearer of the party, it will be a red card for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and all other parties seeking the office of governor in the state.
Imasuagbon said he has traversed the state 10 times in the course of his campaigns and would not undertake another bout to connect with the people and seek their support for the Labour Party in the election coming in September 2024.
He said he has invested his emotions, finances, and goodwill in the development of the state and would appreciate the support of the people to deploy state resources for the same purpose for the greater benefit of the people.
He said his aspiration was open to any kind of primary, be it indirect or direct, as his connection to the people would tell of his popularity.
The National Organising Secretary of the party, Clement Ojukwu, who presented the form to him, said the party would ensure a free and fair primary that would produce a rancour-free candidate who would garner the support of the other aspirants and the party for the elections.
