The Management Sciences for Health (MSH), a sub-recipient to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) on the Global Fund malaria-supported project, on Thursday donated an office furniture and ICT equipment to the Taraba state hospital management and Malaria Elimination Programme Unit.
Mr. Isaac Adejo, the project Director noted during the event in Jalingo that the idea was to support the state government effort toward eliminating malaria in Taraba.
Adejo who was represented by the State Team Lead, Mr. Othniel Kighir, disclosed that, MSH has planned the devolution of certain functions to the Taraba State Government through the State Malaria Elimination Programme (SMEP) Unit to ensure sustainability of joint health initiatives.
According to him, MSH, through the collaboration with Taraba State Government since 2018, has supported 428 healthcare facilities across 16 LGAs, with essential malaria commodities, provides Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC), targeting children under five, and ensures critical data collection for 738 facilities.

The state project team leader also noted that the efforts were crucial in strengthening the health system and ensure the availability of quality healthcare and malaria commodities at the facilities.
He appealed for a judicious use of the equipment as they were transferred solely to support the ministry’s efforts to eliminate malaria in Taraba.
Dr. Ibrahim Musa, the Manager Taraba State Malaria Elimination Programme Unit while responding to the development, assured that the equipment will be judiciously use to support malaria elimination efforts.
He commended MSH for her efforts towards eliminating malaria, as malaria may seem small, but it’s impact on children and the community were enormous.
