From Emmanuel Uzor, Awka

The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and frontline Anambra Labour Party governorship aspirant, George Moghalu, has expressed deep shock and heartfelt sympathy over the fire incident at the Nnewi auto spare parts market.

Moghalu extended his condolences to the affected traders and their families, lamenting the substantial loss of goods worth millions of naira caused by the inferno. He acknowledged the devastating impact on the livelihoods of those dependent on the traders.

“I urge the traders to remain strong during this challenging time. I also call on the state government to provide financial assistance, rehabilitate the affected shops, and provide necessary resources to help them rebuild their businesses.”

Chief Moghalu expressed concern over the non-functional fire service station in Nnewi, which he said could have helped curtail the fire in time. He emphasized the need for greater adherence to safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

A devastating fire had ravaged the popular Afia-Mgbede auto spare parts market in Nnewi, Anambra State, leaving traders and their families in distress.
