The Minister of State Defense, Bello Matawalle, has arrived Sokoto to lead another onslaughts against bandits, terrorists and other criminals in Northwest states.
The initiative was part of President Bola Tinubu’s directives on the Minister along with high ranking military personnel to relocate to Sokoto and ensure flushing all the culprits that terrorized the areas.
Speaking to the newsmen on Wednesday, Matawalle reiterated Federal Government commitment to sanitize the areas against bandits and other evils.

“As directed by Mr President, am back for second time in Sokoto state to coordinate this gigantic assignment in order to flush all bandits and other criminals.
“We have recorded some level of achievements that comprised killing of notorious gang leaders and group members at different places, relative peace had so far been recorded in the specifically in Sokoto, Zamfara and Katsina states.
“I am optimistic that our gallant troops will sustain the strides and continue to record success through ‘Fansan Yamma’ operations that was going on in the fight against these criminals in the Northwest,” Matawalle said.
He assured people of this great region of Northwest on unwavering commitment toward ensuring that operations have achieve all the necessary successes in the fight against security challenges bedeviling the region.
“We will never leave you alone and assured that we will win this war against bandits and those supporting them to unleash terror against the people.
“Federal government will continue to booster the morales of soldiers and other security agencies by supporting them to bring an end to this challenges.
“We appreciates the sacrifices and gallantly fight against insecurity by our teeming military personnel and other security agencies and Inspiring,” the Minister added.
Matawalle further commended Gov. Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto state on his support on the success of the operations and called on other governors, political leaders, clerics and stakeholders to support the presidential initiatives.
He underscored the importance of the collaboration with Federal Government in the fight in order to achieve the targeted goals.
“We must collaborate together to bring these bandits down through use of kinetic and non-kinetic methods to crush them entirely.
“We will never be intimidated, rest or allow the criminals breathing space, we must stop them from moving freely no matter how they blackmailed or make propaganda, mischief against our operations.
“We will never be distracted toward securing lives and properties of our people,” he added.
The Minister disclosed that besides the strategies made so far, he would also led visits to some parts of Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara and Kebbi states.
According to him, the visit intended to seek for more supports and contributions of our governors, religious, political and community leaders toward achieving the desired success on the task ahead.
