Trump, during another round of executive orders from the Oval Office on Thursday, pardoned 23 people who had been convicted for blocking access to abortion clinics.
Explaining his decision, Trump said many of them are elderly people and should not have been prosecuted.
“They should not have been prosecuted. Many of them are elderly people. They should not have been prosecuted,” Trump said.
“This is a great honour to sign this. They will be very happy.”
One of those pardoned is Lauren Handy, the leader of the group Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising, PAAU.
PAAU was convicted of conspiring in 2020 to storm a Washington reproductive health clinic and blocking access to intimidate patients and staff.
This is coming after Trump had on Wednesday, pardoned two police officers in Washington who were convicted in the 2020 murder of a 20-year-old Black man, Karon Hylton-Brown.
