Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has warned Marcus Rashford and other Red Devils players on the need to maintain discipline both off and on the pitch.
Marcus Rashford was fined two weeks’ wages of £650,000 and dropped for the FA Cup fourth-round win at Newport County last Sunday after a nightclub hangout in Belfast last week.
Ten Hag held discussions with Rashford and his brother and adviser, Dwaine Maynard, at Carrington on Monday and the winger is available for selection for the Premier League fixture away to Wolves on Thursday evening.
In a statement issued on Monday night, United said: “Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.” Ten Hag repeated that at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
So he has taken responsibility and for the rest, it’s an internal matter. Case closed,” Ten Hag said.
“It’s nothing to do with [a lack of respect] but as I said, let’s focus on the game, let’s move on. The statement is clear and we have to focus on winning football games.
Rashford told United he had been out on Wednesday night but it transpired he was socialising on Thursday night and Friday morning. United were due in for a training session on Friday after a day off on Thursday.
The 26-year-old trained at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex on Wednesday morning and flew to Belfast later that day to visit his friend and former United youth teamer, RoShaun Williams, who has just signed for Larne.
