A bishop, Shina Olaribigbe, was on Thursday stabbed to death by a man who suspected him of having an affair with his wife in Osogbo, Osun State.
The deceased, who was the founder of Rapture Empowerment International in Osogbo, was allegedly caught in bed with the wife of his killer and was stabbed to death.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.
She said information available to the police revealed that the suspected killer and the wife are a couple but not living together.
“They are not separated by law yet. The pastor (Shina Olaribigbe) used to settle fights between the couple. We were told the pastor was at the wife’s place today when the estranged husband got there.
“We were also told the husband stabbed the pastor. We were also told the deceased was on the wife’s bed when the incident happened. The husband stabbed him severally and he died.
“It was learnt the husband acted on the suspicion that the pastor was sleeping with the woman. Bishop Shina Olaribigbe was stabbed to death in the early hours of Thursday while attempting to mediate a domestic dispute between a couple,” Opalola said.
Though details of the couple involved remain unclear, sources revealed that the wife was an interpreter at Olaribigbe’s church, located around the BCGA area in Osogbo.
