Nigerian Celebrity lawyer Stan Alieke has warned Nigerians against making money cakes and bouquets, claiming it’s a criminal offense.

The information he shared on his Instagram story in the early hours of Valentine’s Day has generated mixed reactions from internet users.

Stan claimed that making flower bouquets and money cake is a criminal offense under the CBN Act 2007 Section 21 and is punishable by at least six months in Jail.

Section 21 of the CBN Act 2007 says, “A person who tampers with a Nigerian note, coin or any note issued by the Bank is guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to imprisonment for a minimum of six months or to a fine not less than N50,000 or both”

According to him, anyone who has made plans to surprise their partners with money bouquets and cake today, Valentine’s Day, might risk going to jail.

He also urged those who plan on celebrating Valentine’s Day to find other presents to gift their partners, adding that being ignorant of the law is not an excuse.

His write-up read;

“Making of money cakes, money flowers or money bouquets are all criminal offences punishable with at least six months jail term as provided in S. 21 of the CBN Act, 2007. So if you have a money cake/money bouquet as one of the Valentine gift you intend to gift your partner today, know that you may land in jail and ignorance of the law is not an excuse.”
